Synopsis
Inspired by the harrowing events of Jonestown, this novel follows Joyce and her young daughter, Trina, as they navigate a utopian commune in the Guyanese jungle led by a charismatic but violent preacher. As the community's isolation breaks down and rumors of a congressional delegation spread, the camp prepares for a mass suicide. Joyce and Trina must attempt a daring escape, aided by a local boat captain and an unexpected ally: the commune's caged gorilla.
