Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator

Picking up minutes after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ends, this sequel sends Charlie Bucket, his family, and Willy Wonka hurtling into space aboard the Great Glass Elevator when it overshoots the factory. In orbit they dock with a newly built space hotel, where a swarm of shape-shifting alien creatures called Vermicious Knids threatens the crew of astronauts already aboard. Back on the ground, Wonka's chocolate-factory experiments take a strange turn with Grandma Josephine and Grandpa George, throwing the plot into further chaos before it resolves with a visit to the White House.

Sillier and stranger than its predecessor, the book leans further into space-age whimsy and slapstick while keeping Dahl's brisk, read-aloud pacing.
