Okay! We have reached the second book in this incredible series.
The story picks up exactly where the first one left off, wasting no time as we dive straight back into the action. At the start, Carl and Donut ascend (or descend, I always get those terms confused) to the third floor, where they are given the choice of their races and classes.
Following that, we go through two quests with Carl and Donut. The first involves a dancing lemur and a roller-skating bear from a circus, while the second involves dead hookers falling from the sky and dark magic.
I have mixed feelings about these two quests. I really liked the ending of the circus quest, but the first part was not very intriguing to me. As for the second quest, I really liked the beginning, as it was filled with mystery, but it lost my interest toward the end.
All together, though, the book was a rollercoaster ride, with moments that were filled with fun and others that carried real emotional depth.
