Call my Heart Home opens Carina Schnell's Island Summer duology, set in Hawai'i. Erin has always had one goal: leave her home island to study biochemistry and find a cure for her father's illness. When his condition worsens, she comes back to Hawai'i and meets Shane, a local woodcarver who lives entirely in the moment, chasing the next perfect wave.

Erin initially can't warm to Shane's laid-back lifestyle, but over the course of one summer together, he draws her closer to the beauty of the island she grew up on -- and to feelings she hadn't planned for. Inspired by Schnell's own trip to Hawai'i, the novel sits its grumpy-sunshine romance against a real question: what happens to a place when tourism and paradise collide, and whether Erin can still call it home once she's seen it clearly.
