Synopsis

Tess lives for swimming — the rough concrete under her toes at the pool's edge, the snap of cold water, the feeling of being fully alive mid-stroke. A seizure and an epilepsy diagnosis the summer before her senior year upend all of it: doctor visits replace swim practice, her lifeguard chair goes to the new guy in town, and her closest friendship starts to fray just when she needs it most.

A lyrically written slice-of-life YA novel about a swimmer relearning who she is when the sport she built her identity around is suddenly out of reach, and about the unexpected people — including her replacement at the lifeguard stand — who help her find her way back.
