Eight office workers are invited to join a reality show called Break Room only to discoer that they were chosen because their coworkers think they are the least likeable person to share a break room with. Labelled as villain with each having their own nickname to start the game, I followed Ice Cube in his unsettling views confronting the uncomfortable truth about their behaviors while collecting hints to find the imposter who is planted by the producer in exchange for a sum of cash prize.
A compelling concept and unique premise for a reality show drama and office working satire. The writing was sharp and go bit psychological with engaging observations on one’s habit, social perception, of identity labelling and how an office break room can be both a place to relax and interact as well a source of irritation that quietly shape how coworkers can go silently judging each other.
It was fastpaced yet so easy to follow, can be a bit flat for its straightforward no dense mystery premise but somehow I loved how Ice Cube carried his POV throughout the game. Reflective and quite interesting for its human behaviour and social observant theme. Just wish it can be longer as it ended bit abrupt for me with a quiet resentment from the character that it frustrates me a bit. 3.7/5*
