Boulevard is the debut novel of Mexican author Flor M. Salvador, who first published it on Wattpad under the name Ekilorhe. Its readership there was large enough that Editorial Naranja brought it out in print in 2020; in 2022 Montena, the young-adult imprint of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, acquired the rights and released this edition, revised by the author and subtitled "La versión de Flor".
The story follows Hasley Weigel, a seventeen-year-old student who is ambitious, warm and chronically bad at mornings, and Luke Howland, a nineteen-year-old the school has already made up its mind about — withdrawn, spoken of badly, and struggling with substance use. The publisher's own framing casts them as two skies: he is darkness, she is a ray of sun. What grows between them is not a tidy romance but something uneven and mutually altering, and the pair eventually give it a name of their own: a boulevard shaded in greys and electric blues, the colours of weather about to break.
Alongside the love story the novel deals directly with addiction and what it costs the people around it, with abuse inside a family, and with emotional dependence — themes that put it at the heavier end of the YA shelf and account for its 14-to-15-plus recommendation. It is the first of three books; the sequel, Después de él, follows Hasley through the aftermath, and Antes de ella closes the sequence.
