Bone: The Complete Edition
Three cousins, Fone, Phoney, and Smiley Bone, find themselves banished from their home and lost in a strange, new valley. They soon discover this place is filled with both wonder and danger, and they'll need to rely on each other and some unlikely allies to survive. Their adventures are just beginning as dark forces gather.
The original nine-volume saga is designed to be read as a complete narrative, and supplemental works like Rose or Tall Tales are intended to be explored only after finishing the primary story to avoid spoilers and maintain the intended progression of the world's mythology.
The series was originally serialized in 55 individual black-and-white issues before being collected into nine volumes, which were later released in a colorized format by Scholastic. Regardless of whether you choose the original black-and-white or the later colorized editions, the core story remains the same and should be read in the sequence of the nine volumes.
This work is widely recognized for proving that self-published, all-ages graphic novels could achieve mainstream success and critical acclaim, eventually winning ten Eisner Awards and eleven Harvey Awards while helping to launch the modern boom of middle-grade graphic literature.
