Synopsis

In the village of Colbren, the dead don't always stay that way. Aderyn (Ryn) has spent years keeping her family's gravedigging business afloat while hiding how bad the local corpse problem has become: bone houses, reanimated bodies driven by old magic, have started attacking anyone who wanders too near the woods.

When Ellis, an apprentice mapmaker with a mysterious past, arrives in Colbren and offers to help her find the source of the curse, Ryn agrees. Their search into the mountains forces them to confront old magic, a buried curse, and secrets from Ellis's own childhood — including how a boy who should have died young is somehow still alive.
