Synopsis

Inside a Cairo beauty salon ruled by "the Pasha," ten women pass through as clients and workers, each carrying her own story of oppression, illness, loss, love, and betrayal. Rather than following a single heroine, the novel weaves together this ensemble of voices — women who have lost hope for their own lives — and asks what it would mean for one of them to record these stories and hand the others a reason to keep living.

Nora Nagi (born 1987 in Tanta, Egypt) is an Egyptian novelist and journalist who has edited women's-interest pages for several Egyptian and Arab newspapers and websites.
