This is easily a six-star read!!! With autumn approaching, I really wanted to switch up genres and dive into more horror books—especially ones with vampires.
This book is a haunting reimagining of the vampire lore set in 1710 colonial Carolina. It follows Willie, an enslaved man. Whose life changes when he meets Rafzai, the last of an ancient vampire tribe. Together they spark a violent supernatural rebellion against oppression.
What I personally loved the most about this book was the amazing storytelling. It’s raw, powerful and every character feels layered and complex. Markus Redmond blends history and horror so seamlessly making Blood Slaves not just a vampire story but a powerful exploration of freedom, vengeance and humanity.
