Everything's Changed...
This book is by far one of my favorites in the series for many reasons. The fight to free Dimitri from his damnation as a strigoi shows Rose going on a solo mission throughout Russia where she encounters many new people and learns new information about both herself and the power she has.
This book provides insite into Dimitri's origins and where he grew up. I love that we get to meet his family in this book, it adds to his character. We also meet Sydney the Alchemist - who later appears in her own spin off series and it was nice to reread where she first made her entrance into the books. Rose also meets someone new - who is later revealed to be a lot closer to her than she first imagined. Of course there is also Dimitri who we meet again but not as he once was. Strigoi Dimitri is harsh and wants what he wants and will do anything to get it. He is also cunning and honestly I really enjoyed this turn of his character, it was funny at times how different he had become.
This book also broadens the horizons for Spirit. Rose learns that spirit users can charm items to heal. She also meets another bonded pair in Russia who help her. This idea of charming items will come in handy in later books. But, what these new spirit users introduce to Lissa and Rose is the possibility that they could turn someone back from being a strigoi.
With all of this, i think the quote which I used above is fitting, everything has indeed changed. I cannot recommend this series enough, I love it and it honestly remains engaging throughout the books and makes you want to read more.
