Blood in the water
This book chronicles the infamous 1971 Attica Prison rebellion, where nearly 1,300 incarcerated men seized control and attempted to negotiate for the release of 43 hostages. Rather than meeting their demands, New York Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller deployed an assault force, resulting in the deaths of 29 rebels and 10 hostages, and injuring over 100 others. The aftermath saw state actors attempting to cover up their role in the violence, leading to protracted legal battles that lasted until 2005.
