Blankets
Set against the backdrop of a harsh Wisconsin winter, this graphic novel tells the story of two brothers and their childhood rivalry. It also follows the tender beginnings of a young romance, exploring themes of faith, loss, and finding oneself.
Blankets is a complete, self-contained narrative that does not require reading any other books by Craig Thompson to understand or appreciate its story.
Blankets received multiple accolades, including three Eisner Awards for Best Graphic Album: New, Best Writer/Artist, and Best Lettering, as well as two Harvey Awards for Best Cartoonist and Best Graphic Album of Original Work.
The graphic novel is a deeply personal and largely autobiographical work, drawing heavily from Craig Thompson's own childhood experiences, his relationship with his brother, and his first love.
