Frequently asked questions

  • How does this book relate to the rest of the Dark Star trilogy?

This novel is the first installment of a trilogy designed to recount the same series of events from three distinct perspectives. While this volume focuses on the Tracker, subsequent books are intended to provide the accounts of other key characters, such as the Moon Witch, to fill in missing pieces of the narrative.

  • Is there a specific way I should approach the narrative structure?

The story is told through a non-linear, fragmented structure that relies on an unreliable narrator and frequent flashbacks. It is helpful to understand that the book intentionally challenges conventional Western storytelling by drawing on oral traditions where truth is often subjective and dependent on the teller.

  • Are there any plans for a film or television adaptation?

The rights to produce a screen adaptation were acquired by Michael B. Jordan shortly after the book's initial publication. Marlon James is attached to the project as an executive producer.
