Black Hammer is the cornerstone of a sprawling comic book universe that includes numerous spin-off series and one-shots, expanding on the backstories of its characters and introducing new ones. Readers interested in exploring more of this world will find many interconnected stories beyond this initial omnibus.
This first omnibus collects the initial main series, providing a substantial and self-contained narrative arc that introduces the core mystery and characters. While the universe continues to expand, this volume offers a satisfying conclusion to its primary storyline.
While Black Hammer is a distinct creation, it showcases Jeff Lemire's recurring themes of rural isolation, fractured families, and characters grappling with past trauma, which are also prominent in many of his other acclaimed independent comic series.
