Birthing the Star-caller

Birthing the Star-caller is the second book in Peta Hawker's Union trilogy, a young-adult epic fantasy set in the war-torn realm of Heredour.

Buried in the wizards' dungeon, Wave struggles to hold onto her sense of self as the unending dark presses in, even as she finds an unexpected ally in her captivity. Above ground, Jessandra returns home a triumphant starkin only to be sent by her father to the capital, where she is drawn into a rebellion led by a charismatic leader and must learn to balance the many faces she now has to wear.

As war edges closer and a disturbed monarch tightens his grip, an ancient enemy is rising from the past, and the choices Wave and Jessandra make from opposite sides of the conflict will decide what is left of Heredour.
