Synopsis

In 17th-century India, a young Englishwoman named Anne must navigate the treacherous court of Bijapur. When her husband is accused of treason, Anne finds herself entangled in a dangerous quest to clear his name and uncover a conspiracy. She must use her wits and knowledge of herbal remedies to survive the political intrigue and protect those she loves.

Kara Dalkey, born in 1953 in Los Angeles, is an American author of historical fantasy and young adult fiction who studied anthropology at UCLA. She entered writing through Minneapolis's Scribblies workshop group after earlier work as a musician, gigging on left-handed electric bass with bands including Runestone and Voodoo Blue.
