This was a really fun take on Beauty and the Beast. It keeps the familiar bones of the fairy tale but twists them into something darker, with monsters, magic, and just enough danger to keep things interesting without losing sight of the romance.
I really liked the balance between the lighter and darker moments. The story never felt overly heavy, but there was always an underlying sense that things weren’t quite as simple as they seemed.
The main characters were easy to root for, and their dynamic was the heart of the story. My only real complaint is that the supporting characters felt more like placeholders than fully realised people. There were a few who caught my attention, and I would’ve loved to spend more time with them.
Overall, this was an enjoyable start to the series and I’m excited to see where the story goes next.
