High school senior Ally Duncan's best friend, Vanessa "Van" Park, is now the star of TV's hottest new teen drama — but Ally has never wanted Hollywood for herself. All she's ever really wanted is to study abroad in Paris and get into Columbia. When her father's mounting medical bills threaten that plan, Ally takes a job as Van's on-set assistant to earn the money she needs.

Spending more time on set turns out to be more fun than Ally expected, and getting to know Van's charming co-star Liam becomes an unplanned bonus — right up until the show's publicist arranges for Van and Liam to date for the tabloids, just after Ally and Liam share their first real kiss. Ally has to figure out what role she's actually willing to play in a world built on make-believe, before it costs her a friendship, a future, and her first shot at love.
