Bayou Dreaming

Zep Guidry has drifted through his life on good looks and Cajun charm, and it has always been enough. Roxie King, Papillon's deputy, found out a year ago exactly how far that charm goes — they spent one night together, and since then the only thing she seems interested in doing to Zep is arresting him.

Zep is Papillon's wildlife expert and, by default, the closest thing the town has to animal control. So when residents start reporting a rougarou — the bayou's werewolf — prowling the swamp, Roxie has no choice but to work the case with the one man she has been avoiding. Proximity does what proximity does.

What they build is fragile, and it does not survive contact with Roxie's family showing up unannounced or with the job offer waiting for her in New York. Lexi Blake's third Butterfly Bayou novel is a funny, spicy small-town romance about a charmer who finally wants something he cannot talk his way into.
