Well. Most of these reviews that are 1 star come from the age gap/underage reason, which I can understand. I went into this blindly and had I known that I probably wouldn’t have picked it up. But to be honest, I never even got far enough to see that coming, so my 1 star comes from other things.
First of all, this reads like a child wrote it. The language is simple and at times disjointed. They talk about really dumb things and say really dumb sentences. The poor writing was what made me put it down. I stopped right after her parents left her in her new apartment and she’s having the most brainless conversation ever with her “bestie.” I could not stop rolling my eyes.
Then, I was super bothered by all the s••• that was being made up about true places that is so far from the truth. Chick is from Amelia Island, which is NOTHING like described. The author describes it like it’s an east coast LA and it is most definitely not. It’s like calling NYC a sleepy suburb. You can’t be further from the truth. Also, Lucia - Amelia Island is in Florida, not Georgia. I mean, c’mon. That’s something you can freaking Google.
The interactions between the characters made no sense. How can you be an elite athlete who doesn’t drive, yet your parents know nothing about your sport? Or how good you are at it? Or that you could possibly be Olympic caliber? And how does your father know someone who won an Olympic medal in your sport and not think to ever mention it to you? NOTHING IN THIS BOOK MAKES SENSE WITHOUT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE ILLICIT RELATIONSHIP. WHAT. THE.
Seriously. This is why romance/spicy romance gets such a bad rap. Because of horribly written pieces of crap like this.
