Synopsis

Nearly fired from the NYPD, Detective Sienna Walker takes the only offer left to her: a post in Reno, Nevada, the city she swore she would never set foot in again. Her family is there. So is the man she was once going to marry.

Her first case is a serial killer who seems to have been waiting for her. The bodies come with clues addressed to Sienna, and with pages of a journal in which the killer describes murders he insists his mother committed. When her ex-fiance, Gavin Decker, is named in the taunts as well, it stops being possible to treat the case as work.

Bad Mother is a serial-killer thriller wound around a second-chance romance, in which the investigation and the old wound at its center turn out to be the same story.
