Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to read the previous books before starting Attack of the Fiend?

Attack of the Fiend is the fourth book in The Wardstone Chronicles series. While each book has a self-contained plot, the overarching narrative and character development build significantly from the beginning of the series, making it highly recommended to read the preceding volumes first.

  • Is there a film adaptation of Attack of the Fiend?

The first book in The Wardstone Chronicles, "The Spook's Apprentice" (published as "The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch" in the US), was adapted into the film "Seventh Son." This film draws elements from the series but does not specifically adapt "Attack of the Fiend."

Joseph Delaney extensively incorporates elements of Lancashire folklore and real geographical locations, particularly around Pendle Hill, into the narrative. This grounding in local legend and history adds a distinct atmosphere to the story.
