Arthur

Set in the March of Wales in 1199-1200, Arthur de Caldicot is a second son with no lands to inherit and a difficult relationship with his left-handed swordsmanship. When his friend Merlin gives him a magical seeing stone, Arthur watches visions of the legendary King Arthur's childhood and rise toward kingship, and notices the story mirrors his own life so closely he begins to wonder if it shows his own future. On his fourteenth birthday, Arthur learns his true father is Sir William de Gortanore, making him heir to a substantial manor and ending his betrothal to Grace, who turns out to be his half-sister. The novel closes with young Arthur becoming a squire, ready to begin his own journey toward knighthood.
