Synopsis

In the wake of Stalin's death, a secret diary and a mysterious boy were buried in the Soviet archives — and the truth about both has never been allowed to surface. When historian Christopher Kelso is told of a man who survived the purges and knows the diary's location, he sets out to find it, only to be drawn into a conspiracy that spans decades of Soviet history. As the investigation moves from the remote north to the heart of Moscow, the line between history and present-day danger blurs, and the true nature of the boy's identity threatens to upend everything Kelso believes. A tense, atmospheric thriller of espionage and historical mystery.
