Antigoddess
Synopsis
Athena has lived for millennia without illness, until feathers begin growing under her skin and filling her lungs like a cancer. Hermes arrives with a fever that is eating away his flesh. Two immortals who expected a quiet eternity now face slow, miserable deaths.
They travel the world looking for the cause and gathering allies as they go. The trail leads to Cassandra, an ordinary girl who was once a prophetess. She has no involvement with the gods and does not know they exist, yet she may be the key to what comes next.
Hera, queen of the gods, has joined other ancient Olympians in killing off rivals to prolong their own lives. Desperation has corrupted these anti-gods into horrific caricatures of what they once were. Athena needs every advantage she can find, because immortals do not simply flicker out, and a war between the gods is about to begin.
This is a young adult thriller built on Greek myth, with a gory edge and a wry, punk-tinged Athena at its center. The gods are petty as well as powerful. It is the start of the Goddess War, so the story opens a larger conflict rather than closing it.
