And They Were Never Heard From Again is a short, dark fairytale by Benedict Patrick set in his Yarnsworld — a fantasy world built from folklore and fairy-tale logic. Felton takes his younger brother Tad through the Magpie King's forest, hoping the walk will change the boy's life for the better. It does not go as planned.
Originally published in the Lost Lore anthology, the story is now offered as a free-standing, no-risk introduction to the Yarnsworld series: a traditional-feeling morality tale, told plainly and unsentimentally, about what happens to children who wander where they were told not to.
At roughly 40 pages, it is a novella rather than a full-length work — a quick, unsettling read rather than a chapter-by-chapter saga.
