Synopsis

Crown Princess Mirae's coronation ends in terror when an ancient, feared monster reappears and her older brother is taken captive, threatening the shaky truce holding her queendom together. The ceremony also awakens a strange new power inside her, one she can't control and doesn't fully understand. Determined to save her brother and stop the coming war, Mirae leaves the safety of the palace with a small group of unlikely companions, following visions of a future she is desperate to prevent. Drawing on Korean mythology and folklore, this YA fantasy follows a reluctant hero forced to grow into powers she never asked for while the people she loves are put in the path of an old, terrible evil.
