American Rapture

A virus is spreading across America, transforming the infected and driving them into a feral, insatiable lust. Sophie, raised in a strict Catholic household and largely sheltered from the outside world, must cross the collapsing Midwest to find her family as society disintegrates around her. Along the way, she confronts a series of escalating horrors — and discovers that survival demands giving up almost everything she was raised to believe in.

CJ Leede's American Rapture combines body horror and road-trip structure with a pointed critique of purity culture and religious repression, tracking Sophie's forced reckoning with desire, faith, and violence as the world ends around her.
