Synopsis

The Trap (المصيدة) is the second volume of "The Black Pact" (العقد الأسود), the historical-fantasy adventure series by the Tunisian author Sami Mokaddem. It picks up the story of the hero Najm al-Din in the perilous world of medieval Al-Andalus, where kingdoms, faiths, and secret powers are locked in a shadow struggle.

Having narrowly escaped the grip of the Castilians with the help of the nun Ursula, Najm al-Din is appointed a personal guard to the Prince of Granada — a position that places him at the heart of court intrigue, divided loyalties, and the deepening conspiracy of the Black Pact. New dangers close in as alliances shift and old enemies resurface.

Continuing the sweeping saga begun in Masters of the World, this installment blends historical setting, military intrigue, and mystery, deepening the stakes for its hero and the world Sami Mokaddem has built.
