Synopsis

Dr. Nawal El Saadawi examines the deep-seated fears women develop about their bodies and sexuality from childhood onward. This book explores how societal conditioning and patriarchal structures create a harmful link between men and potential harm for women. It offers anatomical and sociological insights into female biology and the historical subjugation of women in sexual relationships. Its frank treatment of female sexuality and genital mutilation led to controversy and a ban in Egypt.
