All's Fair
All's Fair is the third and final novella in Carina Gaskell's Invincible Summer series, a tropical dislike-to-lovers romance set against a Philippine summer. Layla, an independent artist, and Lucky, a free-spirited photographer, have never gotten along — thrown together only because of mutual friends. A reckless one-night encounter forces them to see each other differently, and Lucky proposes three dates as a fair chance to find out whether there's really something between them.
As the summer winds down, Layla has to weigh the risk of opening her carefully guarded heart against the safety of walking away from someone who has already changed how she sees her art and herself. The novella leans on sharp, witty banter and quieter moments of vulnerability as the two work through old assumptions about each other.
Gaskell, an independent romance author based in the Philippines, writes multicultural romance grounded in her characters' own cultural histories; All's Fair carries that same specificity into a short, character-driven closer for the Invincible Summer trilogy.
