Robert Upshur Woodward (born March 26, 1943) is an American investigative journalist. He started working for The Washington Post as a reporter in 1971 and now holds the title of associate editor.
All the President's Men
In 1972, two Washington Post reporters, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, began investigating a seemingly minor break-in at the Watergate Hotel. Their relentless pursuit of the truth uncovered a vast conspiracy reaching the highest levels of government. This book details their incredible journalistic journey, exposing the corruption that ultimately led to President Nixon's downfall.
A 1976 film adaptation exists, directed by Alan J. Pakula and starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as the two reporters.
The authors published a follow-up titled The Final Days in 1976, which chronicles the concluding months of the Nixon presidency.
The inclusion of the reporters as characters in their own story was influenced by Robert Redford, who sought to adapt the investigation into a film and encouraged the authors to document their personal experiences during the process.
