Synopsis

القطاف (The Harvest) is the third and final volume of Hanna Mina's autobiographical trilogy, following بقايا صور (Fragments of Memory) and المستنقع (The Swamp). Narrated through the eyes of his younger self, it follows the family's return to Latakia and their life of poverty, displacement, and hardship—shadowed by a sick mother and an alcoholic father, and shaped by the power of feudal landowners and local authorities.

Much of the novel unfolds around the olive groves where the family labors during harvest season, as Mina renders his own impoverished childhood into the vivid, socially conscious realism that defines his fiction.
