Synopsis

Bored on a riverbank one summer afternoon, Alice follows a white rabbit down a hole and falls into Wonderland, where cakes and potions change her size, a Caterpillar speaks in riddles from atop a mushroom, a Cheshire Cat grins itself out of existence, and a Hatter and March Hare keep an endless tea party. Her adventure builds toward a mad croquet match and courtroom scene presided over by a short-tempered Queen of Hearts.

First published in 1865, Lewis Carroll's novel remains one of the most quoted and adapted works in the English language, built around wordplay, riddles, and a child narrator trying to hold on to sense in a world that keeps changing the rules.
