Synopsis

In 19th-century Canada, Grace Marks is convicted of a brutal murder, but her memory of the event is a complete blank. A doctor, exploring the new field of mental illness, is brought in to assess her. As he probes her past, he uncovers a story that blurs the lines between victim and perpetrator, leaving the reader to question Grace's true nature.
