Synopsis

In the grip of a spiritual crisis, questioning his faith and his path, Paulo Coelho decides to make a radical change: he sets out to travel across Europe, Africa, and Asia, culminating in a nearly ten-thousand-kilometer journey along the Trans-Siberian Railway.

On the train he is accompanied by a gifted young violinist named Hilal, and as the vast landscape unspools outside the window, he comes to believe she is connected to a grave wrong he committed in a past life. Confronting the Aleph — a single point that contains all of space and time — he seeks the forgiveness and renewal that will allow him to fully inhabit the present.

Drawing on Coelho's own life, this semi-autobiographical novel is a reflective story about second chances, love across lifetimes, and the courage to begin again.
