Synopsis

Kylie Masters is a talented woodworker at Reclaimed Woods, in the same San Francisco building where Joe Malone — ex-military, now working security — spends his days. They have known each other casually for a year. Then they kissed, and Joe didn't call.

Kylie is doing a fine job of forgetting him, right up until something precious is stolen from her: a carved wooden penguin her grandfather gave her. Joe has a reputation for finding things and fixing problems, so Kylie swallows her pride and asks for help. The investigation throws them together, and the chemistry neither of them wanted proves harder to ignore than either expected — even though Joe is certain he isn't a forever kind of guy.

Jill Shalvis delivers her signature blend of banter, warmth and heat, with the Heartbreaker Bay ensemble (and Kylie's dog, Vinnie) close at hand.
