Aa wedding, imprisonment and death.
This is the first book a series that explores the what ifs of Disney.
Now I have read one of the books of this series before. It was called Unbirthday and it is an Alice in wonderland what if. I loved that book!!! And for that reason I was very intrigued and excited to read this book. I was never a big fan of Aladdin and his story, yet I love where this author goes in her new worlds for the characters.
Maybe it is because I have never been a big fan of Aladdin or maybe it was due to the fact that the ending let me down, but this book was just okay. Now that isn't a bad thing, I did enjoy the read for the most part, but this just didn't reach the high that Unbirthday did for me.
I love the darkness, the twistedness and the highlighting of important themes that this book provides. The whole series allows the reader to see the world they once loved with a different lens, and explores themes relevant in our world today.
The book is very slow paced at the beginning and this does make it hard to get into, yet I still enjoyed the ride that it took to get to the big nail biting ending, I will however say that I was sorely disappointed with the ending and leave it at that.
All in all, it was a good start to a new series and it does have potential to grow and become better so I will say that this book intrigued me and that I will definitely invest in getting the next book in the series.
(Plus I love the covers!!!!)
