A Touch of Wilderness

A Touch of Wilderness follows Nike as she steps out from under her parents' constraints for a summer in South Africa, volunteering with a wildlife conservation project in the legendary Kruger National Park. Between long days learning the local fauna and flora and the realities of anti-poaching work, she finds herself drawn to Liam, the charismatic safari guide who becomes her window into the wild.

The novel treats its conservation setting as more than backdrop — poaching and wildlife protection run through the story with real sensitivity — while the romance between Nike and Liam develops against the backdrop of the bush. It's the opening book of Mareike Allnoch's Whispers of the Wild duology.
