Synopsis

Effy has achieved her dream of attending literature college, a historic first for women, but her past victory over the Fairy King still haunts her. As the academic world scrutinizes her every move, her colleague Preston begins to experience vivid, dangerous dreams of a submerged kingdom. With a war brewing between nations, both Effy and Preston must confront the blurring lines between fantasy and reality. Are dreams ever truly just dreams?

Ava Reid is an American author of dark, folklore-steeped fantasy, born in 1996 in Manhattan and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey. A Barnard College graduate in political science with Ukrainian Jewish heritage, she draws on Eastern European history and Jewish myth in novels like The Wolf and the Woodsman, and has since moved into gothic and literary territory with Juniper and Thorn and Lady Macbeth.
