A Shadow in Summer

In the opulent city-state of Saraykeht, prosperity hinges on the delicate balance maintained by the poet-sorcerer Heshai and the captive spirit he controls. But this powerful duo is also the city's greatest vulnerability, as Heshai is haunted by past failures. Far off, the conquering armies of Galt plot to dismantle Saraykeht's trade, with a terrible crime planned against Heshai and Seedless. Amidst this brewing conflict, Amat, a woman who rose from the slums, finds herself caught between her city's fate and the machinations of her ruthless employer.
