Synopsis

A Shadow Crown is the second book in Melissa Blair's Halfling Saga, picking up where A Broken Blade left off. To the kingdom, Keera is the king's Blade — his most trusted spy and assassin. In secret, she works with Prince Killian and his Shadow, the dark Fae Riven, plotting to kill the tyrant king who holds her kingdom hostage.

Keera cannot outrun her own history: her past crimes against her people have followed her into the Faeland, and when a traitor is suspected among the conspirators, she becomes the prime suspect. Blair continues the worldbuilding and the themes of colonialism, genocide and racism introduced in the first book, alongside a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance between Keera and Riven.

The book is a fixture of the BookTok fantasy scene, praised for its political intrigue, court scheming and expanding ensemble cast.
