Amanda McKinney
A Marriage of Lies
Three women are killed in one of those neighbourhoods where nothing is supposed to happen. All of them wealthy, all of them marked afterwards with an x.
Detective Rowan gets the case. She is not in a good position to take it: her marriage is failing, and she has become preoccupied with what her husband is keeping from her, to the point where the two lines of enquiry start to occupy the same space in her head.
Amanda McKinney runs the investigation and the marriage against each other, and the structure keeps returning to an interview room where Rowan is the one being questioned. What the reader is working out for most of the book is how she got from one to the other.
The detective assigned to a triple murder while her own marriage disintegrates.
