2.75. Yeah this book wasn’t for me. It almost put me in a reading slump. I was having a hard time engaging with the story cuz I felt like there was a lot of things written yet nothing was being said or done. Moreover I had a hard time connecting (or even understanding) Ricki. There were moments where the prose seemed to get in the way of the story, and I had to push myself to stay engaged.
That said, Ezra’s storyline was the standout for me. His background and presence had real depth and found myself invested much more to his journey.
Overall, the concept was intriguing, and there were definitely flashes of beauty in the writing, but it didn’t come together for me in a fully satisfying way.
