Synopsis

Five years after a violent confrontation with his wife, Yehuda Kaminka returns to Israel from the United States to seek a divorce. The novel follows the lives of the Kaminka family members — including his institutionalized wife Naomi, and their three adult children Tsvi, Asa, and Ya'el — as each grapples with their own marital and personal crises set against the backdrop of modern Israeli life. Told through alternating first-person chapters, the book explores themes of unrequited love, generational estrangement, and the enduring impact of the Holocaust and the kibbutz movement on the Israeli psyche.
