Synopsis

Widowed at twenty-seven, Eliza Balfour inherits her late husband's fortune and, for the first time, control over her own life, on the condition that she never becomes the subject of a scandal. She moves to Bath with her cousin Margaret hoping for a quiet season of painting and independence, only to find herself drawn to the infamous Lord Melville and unexpectedly reunited with Oliver, the new Lord Somerset and the man who once broke her heart.

As Eliza's choices ripple further than she intended, she learns that freedom never comes without a price.
