Synopsis

Molly Appleby writes for Collector's Weekly, and a kiln opening in the North Carolina pottery country is the kind of event she covers happily: rare glazes, long queues of collectors, and the small fierce politics of people who chase the same pieces. Then George-Bradley Staunton, a collector with more enemies than friends, collapses and dies in the middle of it.

The death is written off, but Molly is not convinced. With her mother's connections and her own knowledge of antiques, she starts working through a field of suspects who all had reason to want the man gone, and finds that a collection can be a motive as much as an inheritance.

The first Collectible Mystery introduces the amateur sleuth Molly Appleby, written by J. B. Stanley, the pen name of Ellery Adams. The series later appeared as the Antiques and Collectibles Mysteries.
