A Futile and Stupid Gesture

Doug Kenney was the brilliant, troubled mind behind National Lampoon, the magazine that redefined American comedy in the 1970s. This biography traces his rise from Harvard to the heights of Hollywood, where he co-wrote Animal House and Caddyshack. Through extensive interviews with his collaborators, the book explores the chaotic, creative, and ultimately tragic life of the man who shaped a generation of humor.
